StarWars.com Redesign

At the inception of this project, the Star Wars brand was evolving from the film series of the past to the multi-media powerhouse of today. The Star Wars web team wanted a homepage refresh to reflect the more modern aesthetic and contemporary content.

Our challenge was not simply to give the site a facelift and updated UI but to provide our guests with a meaningful digital experience. Through extensive data-driven research, we created user stories and wireframes, an invaluable resource and the foundation of the site you see today.

Considering we were on a time crunch, from the commencement of the project we partnered with the engineering, production, and web analytic teams. As a result of everyone’s hard work, we produced seven new modules for StarWars.com, redesigned the navigation and footer, and elevated the site’s visual language.

Prism, Disney’s design system, was in development at the time of this redesign. As a result, we were able to test and implement a majority of the design system’s features, such as iconography, buttons, a dynamic grid, and a type ramp. The intent was to create a consistent visual language for the site that fit alongside the Star Wars App and the larger Star Wars brand.
